My practice is concerned with examining and commenting on contemporary British society and working-class experiences through sculptural objects, photographs and drawings which come together to form installations or visual narratives which subtly allude to their subject matter. Place, landscape, belonging and notions of taste and value play important roles in the work I make; exploring how our environment may affect and inform who we become, the way we see ourselves, how others may see us and the ways in which we interpret the world around us.

My current work involves taking discarded, disposable and seemingly valueless objects and materials from the urban environment, considering them for their aesthetic merit then reworking the objects by painting, shaping, and adorning them into minimalist, colourful sculptures. I give this rejected detritus of our contemporary environment new life as a fine art object, changing its perceived value and enabling the viewer to consider it in a new way. In doing so, the work is a comment not only on our throwaway society and the over consumption of material goods, but raises questions about the value we place on material objects in our consumerist society.
